CASCO Reaches Out in 2015

A normal work schedule keeps us in the office for eight to nine hours a day, five days a week, and often we are there much more. The office becomes our home away from home. Over time, we feel a kinship with those we work with, supporting each other through stressful times and losses, and celebrating each other’s successes. It is also important that our work allows us to strive toward the common goal of leaving a positive mark on this world, to make a meaningful contribution to our community. This past year at CASCO, our employees really came together to support each other, and extend a helping hand to good causes in our area and around the nation.

Many members of CASCO suffered personal losses this year, and donations were made in honor of our loved ones passed. Gifts in their names were presented to seventeen different organizations, both local and national. Among them are St. Jude Research Hospital, APA Adoption Center, The National Kidney Foundation, and various local churches, schools, and crisis centers.

Our staff participated in activities for charitable causes as well. Donations were made in honor of our coworkers who participated in this year’s Pedal the Cause and Lupus Foundation events. In June, fifteen of us formed Team CASCO and walked in St. Louis’ annual ALS Walk. CASCO also hosted two American Red Cross Blood Drives at its offices in 2015. Dozens of us set aside our fears to donate a total of 51 units of blood.

In August, we joined St. Louis Children’s Hospital’s KIDstruction Week fundraiser. Throughout the entire month, CASCO’s staff hosted a series of fun events to raise over $5,300 toward the hospital’s mission: “To do what’s right for kids.” This was CASCO’s single biggest fundraising activity of the year, and our most significant contribution for many years. Our staff rallied to a very important cause. Please see our earlier blog post here for more on this great campaign!

There were a couple of important year end activities here at Casco. In November, we gathered personal care items

for our country’s service men and women. Almost two hundred pounds of goods were collected and shipped to Operation Shoebox, a non-profit organization that sends care packages to America’s armed forces all over the world. CASCO also joined with a local business partner in their community-wide toy drive called Toys for School Kids. Every

year, Toys for School Kids collects and delivers new toys to three public elementary schools in the City of St. Louis. Over ninety percent of the children attending these specific schools live in situations that keep them from having any gifts to open during the holiday season. However, thanks to Toys for School Kids, every child in these three schools receive a new toy in the weeks before Christmas! We were proud to contribute in some small way to such wonderful causes.

Our company and our staff made important contributions this year in support of each other, and in the lives of those in our community. Together, our staff enthusiastically embraced the challenge of increasing our connectedness through charitable works, and our goals for 2016 are even higher!
